Plot Ideas
My CP recently discovered there is a book 'out there' with a very similar plot to her current work in progress (check out her blog post here). It can be really disheartening when that happens - you think you've got this great idea, and someone's beaten you to it. Of course, there isn't such a thing as an original plot - just your spin on it, mixed with your unique voice. So you need to ignore what everyone else has done and just go for it.

I agree. Its disheartening, but like u said, we just need to think how we can make it our own. I've read a tonne of 'boss and assistant' plots or the 'man or woman next door'. What makes them all different and unique is the characters aren't the same. They've all got a different past and story.
That's right, Natasha - and because of that we keep reading all those 'boss and assistant' and 'man or women next door' stories without really thinking about the fact we've read that theme heaps before :)
