A is for AKUBRA
Akubra Hats are an Australian icon. These felt hats have been around for over 130 years and are a fundamental part of the Aussie national uniform, with our Olympians, Military and dignitaries all wearing them. They are part of our national culture with nearly every man, or woman, who works the land wearing one.
B is for BRISBANE
Brisbane, the capital of Queensland (the north-eastern state of Australia) is where I live. Known as the River City it is the third biggest city in Australia and is sub-tropical, making it an idyllic place to live. A very green city it has a sandy swimming beach in the middle of the CBD, our own style of building (Queenslanders) and is a short drive to surf beaches or rainforest.
C is for CROCODILES
Australia has 2 types of crocs: freshies (freshwater - picture on left) and salties (saltwater - picture on right). Featuring prominently in indigenous artwork they are found throughout northern Australia, from the east to west coast. The salties are the most dangerous of the two, but all crocodiles in Australia are protected.
