It is perfectly okay to write garbage - as long as you edit brilliantly.

Visiting from A/Z. I do like that quote. Interesting contrast, write garbage, but make sure the editing is brillant with it. Not sure I could pulll that one off :) Good luck with the rest of the challenge!

Great quote! It reminds me of this famous one, often (apparently incorrectly) attributed to Ernest Hemingway: Write drunk, edit sober. Not an invitation to ACTUALLY write while drunk! But don't worry overmuch about the form or finish when getting that first draft down. Fix it on the rewrite.
Hi - stopping by from QOTKU's blog.
Hi Betty, as my first drafts are always 'dirty' I hope my editing is pretty good (if only it could be brilliant!). Thanks for stopping by.
*snort* I wonder how many have taken that literally? But it's exactly right - as other famous authors have said in various forms, 'you can't edit a blank page'.
Thanks for swimming over from the Shark Tank, Celia.
I come from both A-Z and QOTKU's blog. Love them both. And I love this quote. Sometimes I have to shush that brilliant editor just long enough to get the first garbage draft down. It's a challenge, but sooo worth it. ~JEN Garrett
Jen, to get my dirty draft down I often have to type with my eyes closed just to stop my internal editor from taking over! Of course, typing with my eyes closed gives that editor lots to play with afterwards *grin*
Such a lovely quote! Thanks for sharing. And good luck with the A-Z Challenge! :)
Excellent quote, Anita! :D
Thanks for stopping by, Madeline.
Thanks, Colin :)
